Многочисленные виды семейства Brassicaceae включают широко распространенные овощные, масличные, кормовые и технические культуры, в том числе капусту (Brassica oleracea L.) во всем многообразии ее подвидов и разновидностей, листовые овощи (главным образом, В. rapa L.) и масличный рапс {В. napus L.) — значение последней культуры быстро возрастает в связи с производством биотоплива.
